            The Waterfront Commission held a regular meeting on this date at the Town Dock meeting room.  Members present were Sandy Grimes, Chairman; Arthur Medeiros; Ethan Grimes; Randy Minor; Rose Raffo; Bill Robinson and Mike Grimshaw. Tucker Bragdon and Ed Dear of the Stonington Small Boat Association were also present.
 
Chairman Grimes called the meeting to order at 7:20 p.m.
 
Previous minutes

Mr. Medeiros made a motion to approve the minutes of the April meeting as presented.  Mr. Grimshaw seconded the motion and voting was unanimous.
 
Treasurer’s Report

Mr. Robinson made a motion to accept the Treasurer’s report as read.  The balance in the WFC account is $450.00.  Mr. Grimshaw seconded the motion and voting was unanimous.
 
 

Unfinished Business

Stonington Small Boat Association
Mr. Bragdon provided 3 drawings of the proposed fencing at the SSBA area.  Members reviewed and discussed these drawings and unanimously agreed to meet at the site on June 10, 2008 at 6:45 p.m. to make a final decision. 
 
SNEFLA-Scallopers

Mr. Mederios reported that he has made some headway in retaining boats for the dock. Two possibly three boats should arrive soon.   SNEFLA agreed to sop operations on Sunday and cut Saturdays to half a day. 
 

Consent Agenda

Dock Area housekeeping – Mr. Medeiros reported that all is ongoing.

 
Maintenance items – Mr. Medeiros reported that the seawall by the Police has been filled in but feels that is a minor, temporary repair.  He has spoken with Town Hall to have warning signs placed to protect from vehicles getting too close.  Members agreed it would be wise to contact the Town Hall again regarding placement of a gate and warning signs.  

 

South Dock extension – Nothing to report.

 

Donahue Park – Mr. Robinson reported that the area is a mess with the excavation.  
 
New Business

Town Dock Electrical Project

Letter from Joe Bragaw, Director of Public Works regarding payment for work to change out the 30 amps services to 50 amp services on the transient slips in the south berthing area and additional paving.  Mr. Minor made a motion to approve the transfer of $7,528.67 from the Wharfage Account to the Working Account to cover SNEFLA’ s cost for this work.  Mr. Grimshaw seconded and voting was unanimous.
 
Special Olympics request

Mr. S. Grimes informed the members of a request from the Special Olympics to use the Town Dock parking area, if needed on Sunday, May 18, 2008 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  Mr. Medeiros made a motion to approve the request for parking, Mr. Grimshaw seconded and voting was unanimous.  Mr. S. Grimes stated he would contact the group.
 
Correspondence

Several letters were received with regard to the WFC request for parking attendants at the Farmer’s Market.  Chief Stewart suggested contacting the Police Dept. if an issue of illegal parking arises and he added he will have an officer check in on occasion.  He went on to state that a CSO has been assigned to the Borough that will also monitor parking. 
 
There being no further business to come before the Commission, Mr. Robinson made a motion to adjourn.  Mr. Minor seconded the motion and the meeting was unanimously adjourned at 8:05 p.m.
