The Waterfront Commission held a regular meeting on this date at the Town Dock meeting room. Members present were Sandy Grimes, Chairman; Rose Raffo, Vice Chair/Treasurer; Arthur Medeiros; Ethan Grimes. Bill Robinson and Mike Grimshaw were absent.
Chairman Grimes called the meeting to order at 7:04 p.m.
Mr. Grimes made a motion to approve the minutes of the August meeting as presented. Mr. Medeiros seconded the motion and voting was unanimous.
Nothing to report.
Dock Area housekeeping – Mr. Medeiros reported that all is O.k.
Maintenance items – Mr. Medeiros reported that the work on the building is completed, except for the painting.
Engineer’s Task list – Ongoing.
South Dock extension – Nothing to report.
Pawcatuck Park – Construction is underway.
Town Dock electrical project – Mr. Grimes reported that he received correspondence from Lawrence Sullivan, Town Engineer; it stated that it might appear that the work is not progressing because all of the underground work has been completed by the excavation contractor. Only pavement replacement along the north dock remains and is scheduled to be installed on Wednesday the 19th.
Also, all the fabrication work the electrical contractor, SNS Electric, is completing at their fabrication shop. There are 25 power pedestals that have to be assembled and then brought to the site to be installed on their foundations. There are several components to each power pedestal and fabricating these pedestals in a controlled environment makes the assembly process much easier.
SNS anticipates installing the power pedestals along the south dock by the end of the week.
SNS is waiting for the new transformer and switchgear for the south dock to be delivered to the site. There was a slight delay in ordering the equipment as the approval process between the design engineer and the equipment supplier was slower than originally anticipated. The gear is anticipated to be delivered by the 21st.
Once the gear for the south dock is installed Wayne Greene will need to inspect the work. Once Wayne inspects the work he will notify CL&P. Upon notification, CL&P has a 3 week window to transfer power from the existing transformer to the new transformer.
Substantial completion of the project is expected by October 26th. Substantial completion means only small punch list items to remain such as clean-up, final restoration of disturbed areas, etc...
Pump out dock to be located at the leased property near the Treatment Plant. E. Grimes to check with CT DEP to establish who owns Pump out boat.
There being no further business to come before the Commission, Mr. Grimes made a motion to adjourn. Mrs. Raffo seconded the motion and the meeting was unanimously adjourned at 7:50 p.m.
