The Stonington Board of Selectmen held a special meeting on this date at 2:30 p.m. at the Stonington Town Hall. Present were First Selectman William S. Brown, Selectman Stephen E. Bessette and Selectman Peter L. Balestracci. Also present was Attorney Richard Cody.
1. Call to Order
Mr. Brown called the meeting to order at 2:30 p.m.
2. Comments from the Public - None.
3. Interviews for boards/commissions
The Board interviewed Attorney Richard Cody with regard to his interest in being appointed to the WPCA. As Attorney Cody was the final applicant to be interviewed for the vacancy on the WPCA, the Board took the following action.
A motion was made by Mr. Balestracci, seconded by Mr. Bessette and unanimously voted to appoint Richard Cody to the Water Pollution Control Authority, filling a vacant term that will expire on July 31, 2009.
4. Bid Award: Public Access Dinghy Dock at Holmes Street
Mr. Brown read a memo dated January 13, 2006 from Mark Comeau, Community Development, stating that the low bid for the Mystic Public Access Dinghy Dock project came from Gwenmor Marine Contracting, Inc. The Mystic Public Access Dinghy Dock project is funded under the Office of Long Island Sound program. The Town has a current Grant award of $25,000 for this work. The Grant is valid through May 31, 2006 with completion of the work anticipated by April 30, 2006.
A motion was made by Mr. Balestracci, seconded by Mr. Bessette and unanimously voted to award the bid for the Mystic Public Access Dinghy Dock Project to Gwenmor Marine Contracting, Inc. of Mystic, CT, in the amount of $25,000.
Brief discussion took place regarding the actual location of the public access dinghy dock, which will be on Holmes Street in Mystic.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 2:40 p.m.
