06-15-06 Minutes
This meeting was held at the Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center and was preceded by a public informational update provided by the developers of the Prospect Place project.  It was reported that 24 of 38 units are under reservation.  If approvals are obtained, they expect to break ground on or about August 1, 2006.

The meeting was called to order by Acting Chairman Ed Dear at 7:45 PM.
Present were: Ed Hart, John Delmhorst, Tony Lee, Ed Dear, Jim Oberhelman, and Ed Habereck.  Absent were: Gary Bennett, John Dionne, Blunt White, Inger Elliott, and Mike Latham.

The minutes of the May 18, 2006 meeting were approved.

Old Business:
Jim Oberhelman reported on the Economic Evaluation Project that data has been gathered and entered into the model.  A formal report will be made at the next meeting to show the margin of error.
On Commercial Development Incentives, it was reported that First Selectmen Brown was opposed to the fact that tax abatements would be approved by the Selectmen rather than the public.  A schedule of possible abatements would be available to developers even though final approval would be made at a public meeting.

New Business:
Following discussion, the Commission voted in favor of supporting the Prospect Place project and directed Chairman White to send a letter of support to P & Z.

PRO- there are about five properties needing support and attention.

The Town has obtained $500,000 to rebuild a dock in Pawcatuck Park.

No meetings of the Commission are scheduled for July and August.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:40 PM.

Respectfully submitted,

John Delmhorst,
